In 2019, Yeta Allen embarked on a journey across the United States, visiting salons in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland. Through in-depth conversations with salon owners and hairstylists, she uncovered several recurring issues:
- Many professionals were forced to purchase low-quality hair at steep retail prices.
- It was difficult to find wholesalers that offered consistent quality across batches.
- They struggled to find a supplier offering high-quality, customizable products for diverse ethnicities.
During these visits, Yeta repeatedly heard the same frustrations—hair that tangled, broke easily, or even contained impure substances. Beyond that, the low quality of available hair extensions severely restricted hairstylists’ creative freedom, making it nearly impossible to achieve the desired results in bleaching, coloring, and styling.
